The right base is the difference between standing and toppling
A flag is only as steady as what holds it down — and the right base depends on two things: the size of your flag and the surface it's going on. Grass takes a spike; hard standing needs weight; a car forecourt has its own clever option. This page covers the full range of bases, ground spikes and carry bags for our feather, fin, blade and economy flags. Not sure which you need? Choosing by surface
Metal spike fits all flag sizes; plastic spike suits small and medium — both push into grass or soft earth for a clean, low-cost anchor
A weight bag sits over a metal cross brace for stability where a spike won't go. Standard fits small and medium; the large version fits all sizes
Weighted with water or sand. Basic grey base fits small and medium (pole doesn't swivel); premium base with twist-out feet and pegs fits all sizes
A square metal base for all flag sizes — smart and stable indoors, not intended for outdoor use
Sits under a car wheel and uses the vehicle's weight to hold the flag — made for dealerships, works on any surface, all flag sizes
Holds a folded flag, its pole and selected bases together for easy transport and storage — any flag size
Which base fits which flag?
The important rule: some bases don't suit our large and extra large flags, so match carefully. Fitting all sizes: metal ground spike, large cross brace & weight bag, premium parasol base with feet, square base (indoor only) and car foot. Suited to small and medium only: plastic ground spike, standard cross brace & weight bag, and the basic parasol base. When in doubt, the metal ground spike (soft ground) and large cross brace & weight bag (hard ground) are the safe all-size choices — and we'll always confirm the right pairing if you tell us your flag and location.
