Folded Leaflets

Three simple folds are all you need to get your message across

Description

More to say than a flyer holds

Folded leaflets give you the room a flat flyer can't — several panels of information that fold down to something a customer pockets, posts or picks up. A range of simple and creative folds, gloss or silk stocks, single or double-sided. And there's a proper reason behind how each is finished: lighter 130gsm stocks are simply folded for a smooth result, while heavier 170gsm stocks are creased first, then folded, so the fold doesn't crack the ink. A real person checks your artwork before anything is printed — which matters on folded work more than most — and every order helps restore forests through our Print A Tree project.

Artwork made easy

Every order includes a free artwork check by a real person — you don't need to ask. On folded work this is genuinely valuable, because folded artwork is the easiest thing in print to set up wrong.

Supply a CMYK PDF at 300dpi with 3mm bleed, a 3mm safe zone and fonts outlined or embedded. The part that trips people up: supply the leaflet as a 2-page, double-sided PDF with panels imposed in fold order, not reading order. On an A4 creased to A5, page 1 shows leaflet pages 4 and 1, and page 2 shows pages 2 and 3. For landscape creases, the back page and the inside pages are rotated 180° so everything reads the right way up once folded. It's fiddly — so print a mock-up, fold it, and check before you send. Or simply send us your pages and we'll impose the fold for you. It's exactly the kind of error our free artwork check exists to catch.

Frequently asked questions

Why are heavier leaflets creased before folding?
Because folding a heavy printed stock without creasing it first can crack the ink along the fold, leaving a rough white line. Creasing 170gsm stock first gives a clean, controlled fold that protects the print. Lighter 130gsm stock is thin enough to fold smoothly without creasing.
How should I set up folded artwork?
As a 2-page double-sided PDF with panels imposed in fold order, not reading order — for an A4 folded to A5, page 1 carries leaflet pages 4 and 1, page 2 carries pages 2 and 3. Landscape creases need the back and inside pages rotated 180°. If that sounds involved, send us your pages and we'll impose it for you, and always check a folded mock-up first.
Gloss or silk?
Gloss gives punchy, vibrant colour with a shiny finish; silk has a softer sheen that's easier to read across text-heavy panels and takes a pen if anyone needs to write on it. For image-led leaflets, gloss pops; for information-led ones, silk reads more comfortably.
Can I print both sides?
Yes — single or double-sided. Most folded leaflets use both sides to make full use of every panel, but single-sided is available where the outside can stay plain.
What's the difference between a leaflet and a flyer?
A flyer is a single flat sheet; a leaflet folds, giving more panels and more room for detailed information in a compact finished size. If your message fits one side, a flat flyer may do — if it needs sections, a folded leaflet organises it.
Do you offer more fold styles and sizes?
Yes — for the full range of fold styles, sizes and premium heavier stocks, see our Flat & Creased Leaflets range, which covers gate, roll and Z-folds and stocks up to 350gsm. Tell us what you're producing and we'll point you to the right option.
