Every order includes a free artwork check by a real person — you don't need to ask. On these mugs the check is doubly useful, because a design that works on paper can vanish against the colour-change effect.

Design to the 214.8 × 80mm printable area, and heed the one rule that catches people out: avoid white text or white logos — they don't show clearly against the reveal effect, so your branding can disappear at the moment it's meant to appear. Use colour and contrast instead. For a full wraparound design use the wrap template; for the same print on both sides, use the double-sided template so positioning is perfect. Supply full-colour artwork through our online designer or as a print-ready file, and we'll flag anything that won't reveal well before printing.

How does the colour change work? ›

The mug has a heat-reactive coating that's opaque black when cold and turns transparent when warmed, revealing the full-colour design printed underneath. Pour in any hot drink and the design appears within seconds; as the mug cools, it hides again — so the effect happens every time it's used.

Why should I avoid white in my design? ›

White text and logos don't stand out against the colour-change reveal, so they can look faint or vanish. Since the whole point is a striking reveal, use colours with good contrast instead — we'll point out any white elements when we check your artwork.

Can it go in the dishwasher? ›

No — handwash only. Dishwasher heat and detergents degrade the heat-reactive coating, which would spoil the colour-change effect over time. A gentle handwash keeps it working like new for far longer.

How big is the design area? ›
