Supply a print-ready CMYK PDF at 300dpi with fonts outlined, at your finished sign size. Magnetic signs on vehicles are read from a distance and often in passing, so keep it bold and simple — company name, one service line and a phone number are all most people can take in. If it's going on a curved van door, mention that when you order; magnetic signs sit best on a flat or gently curved steel panel, and a strongly curved surface can lift the edges. What surfaces do magnetic signs stick to? ›
Any magnetic surface — iron and steel — which covers most van and car body panels. They won't stick to aluminium, fibreglass or plastic panels, so if you're unsure what your vehicle's doors are made of, a quick test with a fridge magnet tells you before you order.
Will they damage my vehicle's paint? ›
Applied and removed properly they leave no residue and cause no damage. The key habit: take them off and clean underneath every so often, because trapped dirt and moisture between the magnet and paint is what can mark a surface over time, not the magnet itself.
How long do they last? ›
Up to two years of indoor or outdoor use. Because they lift off cleanly, many businesses remove them when parked long-term or through winter, which extends their life further.
Why choose magnetic over permanent vinyl? ›

Can I use them at highway speeds? ›
The 0.9mm substrate grips firmly for normal driving, but on a clean, flat steel panel with no lifted edges. For frequent motorway use, make sure the surface is clean and flat before fitting, check the edges are down, and remove the sign if you notice any lifting. For continuous high-speed use, permanent vinyl is more secure.
What size should I order? ›
It depends on the panel it's going on — van doors take a larger sign than car doors. Measure the flat area available and order to fit within it, keeping clear of any curves, handles or trim. Tell us your vehicle and we'll help you size it.
