Metallic Foil Business Cards

These shimmering flat metallic Foil Business Cards deliver a memorable experience combined with a luxurious finish

Description

The business card people keep because it feels expensive

A metallic foil business card does something a standard card can't — it catches the light. Digital foil in your choice of ten colours, applied over a tactile matt soft-touch laminate, so the card feels velvety in the hand and then shimmers as it turns. It's the detail that makes someone pause on your card instead of pocketing it, in standard 85 × 55mm or a distinctive 55mm square. A real person checks your artwork before anything is printed — and on foil work that check earns its keep — and every order helps restore forests through our Print A Tree project.

Artwork made easy

Every order includes a free artwork check by a real person — you don't need to ask. Foil setup is one of the more technical files we handle, so this check matters more here than almost anywhere.

The foil is applied from a separate layer, so build your artwork as two parts: your standard CMYK card design, and a foil layer as solid vector shapes marking exactly where the foil goes — vector is required for a crisp result. Three rules to design around, all to keep the foil looking sharp: keep foil at least 3mm from the trim edge, and don't foil anything below 10pt text or 1pt line weight, since fine foil detail can't hold register perfectly. Supply a CMYK PDF at 300dpi with 3mm bleed and fonts outlined. If the foil-layer setup sounds involved, send us your design and we'll build the foil file for you — it's exactly what the free check is for.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up the foil artwork?
As a separate layer: solid vector shapes placed exactly where you want foil, kept as a clean vector file. Everything else is your normal CMYK card design. Keep foil at least 3mm in from the edges and off anything smaller than 10pt text or 1pt lines. If that's more than you want to tackle, send us your design and we'll build the foil file for you.
What foil colours are available?
Ten, from classic gold and silver to blue, red, rose and other on-trend shades. Foils read differently against different card colours, so tell us your design and we'll suggest the foil that will make it sing.
Why is the card soft-touch as well as foiled?
The matt soft-touch laminate is what gives the card its velvety, premium feel in the hand, and it's the perfect backdrop for foil — the matt surface makes the metallic shimmer stand out even more by contrast. Together they create a card that feels expensive before anyone's read a word.
Can I foil small text or fine lines?
Keep foil to 10pt text and 1pt lines or larger. Foil has a slight registration tolerance, so very fine detail can look off — it's at its best on logos, names and bolder elements, which is also where it makes the most impact.
What's the square card option?
As well as the standard 85 × 55mm, we offer a 55mm square card — a distinctive shape that stands out in a wallet of ordinary cards and suits creative and design-led brands especially well. Both take the full foil and soft-touch treatment.
How is this different from a standard business card?
A standard card is printed and finished flat; a foil card adds the metallic, light-catching foil layer over a soft-touch base for a genuinely premium feel. If budget or high volume is the priority, a standard card is the sensible choice — for a card that makes an impression, foil is worth it. We print both.
