NCR pads are the tool for keeping records on the move — order forms, invoices and delivery notes written on the spot, with a carbonless copy kept every time. Fifty sets to a pad, glue-bound so you tear off the top set cleanly and carry on, with a loose writing shield to stop your writing pressing through to the sets below. Available in duplicate, triplicate or quadruplicate, with or without numbering. A real person checks your artwork before anything is printed, and every order helps restore forests through our Print A Tree project.

Pad or book?

Both use the same carbonless paper and part options; the difference is format and how you use them. NCR pads are 50 glue-bound sets with a loose writing shield — light, portable and made to tear off a set and keep moving, ideal on the road and on the job. NCR books add a stiff card cover, grey backing board and taped spine with perforation, for a more permanent, filed record kept at a desk or counter. Out and about, choose pads; a permanent office invoice record, choose books.

Artwork made easy

Every order includes a free artwork check by a real person — you don't need to ask. On NCR pads this check matters, because the layout and numbering have to work across every sheet.

Supply a CMYK PDF at 300dpi with 3mm bleed and a generous 20mm safe zone — wider than usual because the pads are glue-bound, so keep key content well clear of the bound edge and margins. Two pad-specific rules: if you want numbering, supply two files — one for print and one showing where the numbers should sit as a position guide; and if you're printing double-sided, set the reverse in 70% black rather than solid, which stops the writing pressure and ink showing through to the copies beneath. Pads glue-bind on the long or short edge — tell us which suits your layout. Send your files and we'll confirm the setup before printing.

Frequently asked questions

How do NCR pads work? ›
NCR means "no carbon required" — the sheets are chemically coated so writing on the top sheet transfers to the sets below through pressure alone. Tear off the completed set along the glued edge, slot the writing shield under your next one, and carry on.
What's the writing shield for? ›
It's a loose card you place under the set you're writing on, so your pen pressure doesn't carry through and mark the sets beneath. Without it, writing on one set could faintly transfer to the next — the shield keeps every fresh set clean until you use it.
What's the difference between 2, 3 and 4-part? ›
How many copies you get per set. 2-part (duplicate) is white plus a pink copy; 3-part (triplicate) adds a yellow sheet; 4-part (quadruplicate) adds blue too. The colours make it clear which copy goes to the customer, which to the office and which you keep.
Can I have them numbered? ›
Yes — sequential black numbering is available, which is essential for invoices and receipts. Supply two files: your print artwork and a second showing where the numbering should sit, so it lands clear of your content.
Why 70% black on the reverse? ›
On double-sided pads, solid black on the back can show through to the carbonless copies and muddy them. Setting the reverse to 70% black keeps it looking solid while avoiding show-through, so every copy stays clean. We'll flag it if your file needs adjusting.
How many sets come in a pad? ›
Fifty sets per pad. Order the quantity of pads you need — mobile teams often take one pad per vehicle or per person, so there's always one to hand when an order or delivery note is needed.
