Pillow Boxes

Create impressive wedding gift packaging or the perfect boxes for small items making that present look extra special

Description

Packaging with a curve that gets noticed

Pillow boxes do something a square carton can't — that soft curved profile reads as a gift before anyone opens it, which is why they're a favourite for jewellery, cosmetics, samples, sweets and small accessories. Printed in full colour on substantial 380gsm SBS paperboard, scratch-resistant and available with gloss or matt lamination, in sizes from tiny sample boxes up to larger retail formats. A real person checks your artwork before anything is printed, and every order helps restore forests through our Print A Tree project.

Artwork made easy

Every order includes a free artwork check by a real person — you don't need to ask. Packaging wraps a 3D shape with folds, curves and glue areas, so this check is genuinely worth having.

Work from our dieline template for your chosen size and supply a CMYK PDF at 300dpi with 5mm bleed all round, fonts outlined, and a minimum 3mm gap between text and the trim lines. The rule people miss: keep your artwork off the glue sections — adhesive bonds far better to bare board than to printed ink, so a design running across the glue tabs can weaken the box. The curve matters too: the front and back panels arc, so centre your key artwork and avoid placing fine detail right where the box curves away. Send your file and we'll confirm the setup before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Why should artwork avoid the glue sections?
Because the adhesive grips bare board far more securely than printed, laminated ink. Leaving the glue tabs unprinted gives a stronger, more reliable bond, so the box holds together properly in handling and transit. Our dieline shows exactly where those areas are.
What sizes are available?
Anywhere from 60 × 80 × 20mm — small enough for a perfume sample, a ring or a single sweet — up to 190 × 310 × 45mm for larger retail products, scarves or gift sets. Tell us what you're packing and we'll suggest the closest fit.
Should I choose gloss, matt or no lamination?
Gloss makes colours and photography pop and adds a shine that suits sweets, cosmetics and bright branding. Matt is understated and tactile, which tends to read as more premium for jewellery and luxury goods. Unlaminated is the most natural and economical, and it's easiest to recycle. All three protect better than plain board, but lamination adds real scratch resistance.
What is SBS paperboard?
Solid bleached sulphate — a bright white, smooth-surfaced board used widely in premium packaging because it prints exceptionally cleanly and resists scratching. At 380gsm it's substantial enough to hold the pillow curve without feeling flimsy.
Are they easy to assemble?
Yes — they arrive flat and pop into the pillow shape by hand, with the curved ends tucking in to close. No tape or glue needed at your end, and flat delivery keeps storage and postage costs down until you're ready to pack.
What products suit pillow boxes best?
Small, light items that benefit from looking like a gift: jewellery, cosmetics and skincare samples, sweets and chocolates, wedding favours, gift cards and accessories. They're less suited to heavy or rigid items, which need a structured carton — tell us your product and we'll recommend the right style.
